Donovan said the incident happened after O'Neal and Jerome Crawford, a team security official, returned home from the Heat's game at Chicago on Saturday night. Crawford and O'Neal were unloading the car at Crawford's home in Coconut Grove, but weren't in it during the alleged incident, Donovan said.O'Neal and Crawford followed the vehicle for about five minutes while O'Neal called police, Donovan said, adding that the pursuit wasn't at high speed and that police pulled over the alleged hit-and-run driver. No further information was available from police Sunday. This incident was at least the second time O'Neal has helped police apprehend a suspect. In September 2005 he followed and led police to a suspect who allegedly had thrown a bottle at two men walking on Miami Beach while shouting anti-gay slurs.O'Neal, through the team, said Sunday night that he followed proper police protocol during the chase, including pursuing at a safe distance and speed. He contacted police officers along the way, he said.O'Neal was sworn in as a reserve officer in 2005. He has long said he intends to pursue a career in law enforcement when he retires from basketball.

I beleive that O'Neol did a good thing for catching the suspects for the officers but he could of gotten hurt or somthing worse if the suspects were to have seen him.
If I were the suspect definetly wait for the police, if not you would get in more trouble than u already in. Also it is a crime. Hit and Run.

I feel that Shaq did the right thing to follow the suspects. He is a fomer reserve officer, so he knew what to do. He followed standard safety procedures when he followeed the suspects in the car, so he was okay.
If I were the suspects I would defenitly have waited for the police. I would not want to be charged for a hit and run, and I would want to be responcible for what I had done.
Also, sorry Ms.Lambard that this comment is late, it's my fault I did not post in time.
1. Of course he did a good thing. he stoped a criminal. when someone hits your car you want to catch them but he definatly did the right thing.
2. If i was the suspect i wouldn't have run away because what i did was wrong and ethically i just couldn't. also i wouldn't because i would get to meet shaq in person!
He definetley did a good thing for catching thos crooks. And wow how many times can Shaq stop criminals?
Well if I were the suspect I would have ran . But I would never do a crime of any sort. So I don't have to worry about that kind of thing. But obviously you would prabably get caught by the police, or SHAQ! So whats the point?
