Homework: Click here and comment
I think this article is very interesting. I thought it was unfair that he had to wait 11 years until they would open his case. I know you guys aren't going to want to read this. Its pretty sappy. So go comment on Marcus's. Although you girls might like it I did. :)

very scary and spooky
I like this article because it shows how relationships can work through good times and horrible ones. It also shows how a person can stay strong and never give up on something he/she knows is right. This is a moving story. :D hehehe
I felt that this article shows the mistakes the police force and other anti-crime associations make. I think that Jewel is a very strong person to be able to wait 11 years for Dean.
I like this news article beacuse it tells how good relationships could last forever even if there are things that come between it. This was a very touching article.
The police can be very racist sometimes. I like how the relationship last the whole time when he was in jail. Also I think both people where very strong in the hard time that he was in jail.
This story shocked me at first. It's typical for something like that to happen. But, when you look at the facts, and take DNA tests it may prove wrong. This story also proves that you have to stay strong. You have to believe in yourself and others. This story motivates me in so many ways, it shows me to believe in yourself and never ever give up.
I like this story beacause it shows that if you can go through a hardship like this, you're relationship can go through almost anything. I liked how Jewel waited for Dean even when he gave her the option to move on. Instead Jewel told him she would marry him.
I am glad that i am not the only one who likes this article. You guys are right this article is very moving. Jewel is strong and brave. She raised two girls all by her self. I can't believe that the judge couldn't see that Dean was innocent.
I felt as though this article represents how the police force can do wrong things and convict wrong people for wrong crimes. I was touching that the man convicted was able to see his wife again, and they were able to spend the rest of their life together.
Looking back on this article I feel that Jewel took a big risk by staying with Dean. Most people would of just gave up on their loved one because they did not want to be the disgrace of their family. Raising two kids is not easy it could bring you alot of stress and it takes alot to stay and be strong. I feel that serving a sentence that you did not deserve is cruel. They should of looked deaper in to the investiagastion to prove that he was guilty or innocent. This article is inspiring and very touching. I hope this mistake will never happen to anyone that will put them in a tough position.
When reading this article, I realized how two people could really stay together and believe in each other. This article also showed me how police officers and the government can make mistakes, and arrest someone who is innocent. I believe that Jewel was a very strong and courageous person to stay with Dean, and raise her children by herself for eleven years.
I think its absolutely terrible to know that things like this are happening in the first place. It really shows how peoople aren't always careful enough in the legal system. The worst part, though is that this innocent man had 14 whole years of his life wasted. He could have spent all that time raising his kids, and marrying the love of his life, getting a job, anything. He was in jail for something he didn't do for longer than I've been alive. I think thats absolutely one of the most horrible things that could happen to someone, and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone again.
This article makes me so mad because Dean was in prison for 14 years for a crime he did not commit.
I thought this was an excellent choice, and quite a compelling article. There are so many questions to ask: how can he not be bitter about the years wasted? How do you start your life over again after being in prison so long? How do you know if you wait for someone based on love alone that they are truly innocent and you will one day be able to live free with them again?
The more you watch and read the news the more you will hear about similar cases which are truly tragic--innocent people jailed (or executed) while those who perpetrate crimes go unpunished.
Thanks for sharing such a great story!
I like this article because it shows that relationships, even if one of the people is not with the other, it can still work out. Dean was innocent which made me upset that he was in jail, for nothing away from his wife.
Wow, this is my third time trying to comment I must really suck at typing. I feel that it was wrong for the police to keep Dean in jail when there was no feasible evidence. Also it shows how strong the love between two people can be. Jewel must have been a very strong woman to not let go.(Deep I know).
I am glad everyone enjoyed the article! I think it was a great choice.
I like this article because the relationship between Jewel and Dean was so close, Jewel would wait so many years for Dean to get out of jail and to keep fighting for what she believed that Dean was innocent. It also shows how the police can make such a mistake that can ruin somebodys life forever.
I believe this article is very touching. Jewel is a very strong, brave and independent women. It makes me mad to see that the government and police waited that long to do a DNA sample. I also agree with andy that sometimes court can be racist.
I agree with everyone who commented on how 11 years is a long time to wait and that it is great the they waited that long.
